New Beginnings | Phoenix Theatre

On January 22, 2026 we students had the chance to watch an educational theatre play about hope, change, identity, love and the search for opportunities performed by the Phoenix Theatre. The plfocuses on American history, immigration and the American Dream.

The story is framed by a young woman, named Alex, who discovers her grandmother´s diary. The grandmother, Annie Schulz, was one of the many immigrants who came to the USA hoping for a better future. The diary entries reveal the experiences of immigrants, their hopes, struggles and challenges when arriving at a new country and help the audience understand their emotional reality – leaving home, an uncertain future, meeting unfriendly people and their wish to succeed.
